…for the ask about the age of the building – sent me on a quick search through buried deeds and files to refresh myself! (Some amazing handwriting in some ancient documents dating back 120+ years). We think it’s over 200 years old, but earliest I put my hands on today are from 1901-1910.

Pictured is a reverse angle of earlier 1953 An Tostal day, and also 1901 deeds from the beautifully titled The Right Honourable William Thomas Spencer, Earl Fitzwilliam to Mrs. Jane Redmond on 2nd July 1901. The Flood family bought building in 1952 and my own parents, Ray and Phil Billington in 1976.

Thanks to Sheila McGauley and Ann Forde for the 1953 photos. Quite a few locals claim to be in one or other, as mere chislers! (Note – Absolutely all incorrect information in this post is entirely my doing)
